Many 3D companies, these day have difficulties to keep up with 3D technology developing almost everyday. One of the main manufacturers of desktop printers, MakerBot aims to gain new directions in the market by focusing on 3D software and hardware.

Reaching to 100.000 sales number on last February, MakerBot decided to stop printer production for now. The company stated that the decision was due to their other development projects one of which is the collaboration with Jabil to develop hardware. makerbot_product_shots02-printing3dnewsThe company summarized their goals on their website thusly; “To achieve our long-term goals, we also need to be able to navigate the volatility of an emerging market. Working with Jabil will position us to better manage the rapid change in our industry and reduce our manufacturing costs to compete more effectively in a global marketplace. We expect that adopting a flexible manufacturing model will allow us to quickly scale production up or down based on market demands, without the fixed costs associated with maintaining a factory in New York City.”
