TV World Recreated in 3Dimensional

American TV channel Syfy formed an ‘Innovation Lab’ at the beginning of the year to carry out virtual reality, Internet of Things and 3D printing projects. Aiming to be the media pioneer of technological developments, Syfy is stated to bring story telleing and technology in TV screen.

In this regard, the company manufactured 3D replica in exact same size of the spaceship on it ‘The Expanse’ program thanks to MakerBot partnership. This project which can be downloaded free from Thingiverse platform, will be enriched with Killjoys,Hunters,12 Monkeys,The Magicians,Dark Matter programs as well.

During CES, Syfy featured a MakerBot Replicator equipped with the new Smart Extruder+, which 3D printed various models based on Syfy’s show, The Expanse. Syfy’s partnership with MakerBot is the first step for Syfy to expand their science fiction content from the television format into new territories of technology, ultimately allowing viewers to bring physical content to their homes.

For The Expanse, so far, you can download The Canterbury, the giant ice freighter central to the plot of the show, The Knight, the Canterbury’s shuttle, The Donnager, pride of the Martian Navy, The Rocinante, a ship that debuted in episode five, a space helmet, a figure from the show, and logos for The United Nations, Star Helix Security, the Martian Congressional Republic Navy, Tycho Station, and the show’s logo. The only other Syfy show that currently has downloadables is an alien skull from the new show Hunters.
