New generation applications, such as virtual and augmented reality, cloud data, are rapidly being adopted by leaders who direct technology. Apple was a little bit slow on taking the steps than their competitors, but they have long-term plans for Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

Google, Microsoft and Facebook’s work in the field of Virtual Reality (VR) shows that new generation digital technologies are among the strategic plans of these companies, which are pioneers of technology. But Apple is not as fast as their competitors in these developments, and they give signals that they can work for augmented reality applications.

The VR games played by millions, the companies working in connection with IoT and cloud data; and the AR technology that finds itself in different sectors …  ‘Technologies of the Future’ that are carried to the present day are at the top of the agenda of many world leader companies. One of the first names to come to mind when it comes to technology; Apple’s CEO Tim Cook explained the company‘s stance against these technologies and plans for the near term. In this context, indicating that the AR technology is a promising application; Cook pointed to the recent example of the Pokemon Go. Cook expressed that they could have some work for this technology in the long term; and predicted that the technology AR would grow even more.

Cook, who compared augmented reality with another digital technology, VR, said the difference; “The real human theme cannot replace anything; and technology should promote reality.” Cook, saying that VR has interesting features but is not as wide-based as AR; He said that it would take time for AR to fully reveal its potential; but it would be a very effective technology.

In recent years, Apple has made some initiatives related to AR technology and in 2013 it bought PrimeSense; an Israeli-based 3D sensor systems manufacturer. The company offers AR application with camera and deep angle sensors; Two years later, Apple also included Metaio, a German based AR company. With these investments, it is likely that the firm that aims to better understand and develop AR technology; that will support its products with AR applications in the future.
