Supporting 3D tissue and bio-printing projects, Cyprus University aims to be one of the most important centers of this segment with its lab opening in 2017.
Additive manufacturing researches on medical segment has influenced all over the world. Entering among the universities that perform medical 3D projects, Cyprus University will open a 3D bio-printing lab.
The 3D bio-printing lab project was inspired by the words of Dr George Güttinger, who at last year’s Biointerfaces International Conference (BIC) spoke of the importance of establishing a bio-printing laboratory in Europe that could advance and help to meet global demands in the field. The 3D bio-printing lab will presumably be located at the University of Cyprus, which houses eight different faculties, most notably its Faculty of Engineering and its medical school.
The bio-printing laboratory is a result of the long-term collaboration between IQDEMY SA and NextGene. It all started with joint research at IQDEMY CHEMISTRY laboratories in Novosibirsk, Russia. The laboratory is located in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok, a hub of companies from the IT, pharmaceutical, metallurgy and fossil fuels industries. The area is also sometimes called Silicon Forest.
The project initiators are convinced, that joint research the new bio-printing laboratory by NextGene Biosystem, Amur State Medical Academy and IQDEMY Chemistry as well as European Scientists will help to achieve scientific breakthroughs in bio-printing.
