3D technology attracts the attention of many global brands from various sectors. Called as ‘Technology of The Future’ 3D is demanded by many leading brands at the moment. One of these brands is the digital printing pioneer Mimaki. The company shared its sample 3D productions at drupa.
3D and digital technologies are among the strategy plans of global manufacturers. Mimaki is added to the list of the companies entering 3D sector such as HP, Canon, Ricoh and Roland. The firm gave place to 3D printed samples at this year’s drupa for the first time.
The company unveiled samples produced by a 3D concept printer designed specifically for the sign & display graphics and industrial products markets. “This is a full-colour UV inkjet method for high definition 3D printing,” Horsten explains, “and it drew a great deal of interest at the show. Visitors were particularly excited about the ability to combine realistic 3D objects with 2D surfaces for applications that are set to revolutionise the sign & display graphics market, taking signage to an entirely new level.” One of these samples in particular generated a lot of interest: a flexible 3D printed hand that looked very life-like and could be used in medicine for different purposes.
