The success of additive manufacturing in the medical field draws interest of medical specialists from all around the world. Pointing to this technology Hasan Kalyoncu University Assistant Professor İbrahim Akben stated that this technology gives hope for organ transplants.
3D printing’s influence in the medical sector is increasing rapidly. About this technology whose R&D projects in the medical field continue all around the world, Hasan Kalyoncu University Assistant Professor İbrahim Akben said that 3D is very promising for the patients waiting for an organ transplant.
Explaining that recently many different pieces can be manufactured with 3D printers using various materials like; glass, plastics, silicon or food, Akben stressed that these are used in many sectors actively. Akben continued thusly; “3D printers enable organ printing and prothesis manufacturing especially arm, leg, ear and bones. Currently, there are projects focused on tissue printing with medical printers specially designed for these kind of manufacturings. The results of this project can be hope for many patients wating for a transplant. ”
