Refugee Law Is American Technology World’s Agenda

Becoming the USA President with the election in November, Donald Trump is always in the topic of interest not only in USA but also around the world with his radical decisions. President’s new law on refugee citizen is criticized by technology’s leading firms.

USA’s 45th president Donald Trump signed a bylaw on his second week at the White House, about the prohibition 7 Muslim countries’ citizens entering USA. The prohibition cause refugees from Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Somali and Syria stopped at the airports. The decision said to be taken for fighting against terrorism, is now on the verdict. There are many negative reactions from USA’s leading technology firms.

More than 93 companies, including Google, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, joined a legal brief opposing President Donald Trump’s temporary travel ban, arguing that it would give companies strong incentives to move jobs outside the United States. The CEO’s criticized Trump for being intolerant and racist. The firms also stated that they would give support to their refugee staff.

The Companies Are Ready To Support Refugee Workers                               

One of the first tech-giants expressing their reactions, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he was very concerned about the situation. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Google will give the funds to the American Civil Liberties Union, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the International Rescue Committee and the UNHCR. He continued thusly; “We’re concerned about the impact of this order and any proposals that could impose restrictions on Googlers and their families, or that create barriers to bringing great talent to the U.S. We’ll continue to make our views on these issues known to leaders in Washington and elsewhere.”

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella expressed as such; “As an immigrant and as a CEO, I’ve both experienced and seen the positive impact that immigration has on our company, for the country, and for the world. We will continue to advocate on this important topic.” Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk expressed his reaction on his twitter account. Musk said this law wouldn’t benefit America’s interests and the refugees don’t deserve to be rejected.

Periscope’s founders were also among those who took action. Established by two refugees Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein, in Periscope video’s now there is ‘Developed by Refugees Proudly in America’ statement before the video starts. Other technology brands opposing the law include etflix CEO Reed Hastings, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey ve Dropbox CEO Drew Houston.

Attacting many reaction from US people, the law is now in suspension. The situation of refugees in the lands of America hold off. Bringing racism, refugees and discrimination topics back to countries’ agenda, time will show whether this law’s being practised or not what kind of effects Trump’s politics have throughout the world.
