The Dutch construction firm BAM and the architectural company Universe Architecture have developed the 3D printer 3D Builder, which builds the structure. Produced in Amsterdam FabCity, this printer makes 3D print construction possible with robotic printing technology.

The construction firm BAM and Universe Architecture, which offers architecture solutions have launched 3D Builder that has been developed for use in constructions. Expected to launch a new era in architectural design, this printer offers flexibility in design as well as solutions in complex exterior designs.

Developed at FabCity, which opened last April and has more than 400 students, professors and artists sign city projects, the 3D Builder printer robot is preparing to bring solutions to the construction industry by bringing together natural materials and 3D technology. With its removable print head, the printer is available in Italian D-form (D-shape) method using stone and concrete materials. In contrast to inkjet technology, a 3D Builder printer that prints with a technique similar to inkjet printing technology injects an adhesive liquid instead of ink. This liquid is poured into layer fabric by additive manufacturing technique. It is said that the materials used in the print and obtained from natural routes; were used by the Chinese state to strengthen the Great Wall of China many years ago.

It is stated that; this 3D printer robot is being developed for printing with steel and insulation materials in the coming years; and it can be said that it can move around the building without human intervention; during the construction with the installed pallet chains.

3D Builder will open for use in FabCity; and in this context it is announced that Amsterdam will start construction of Lanscape House in Java-eLand.

Janjaap Ruijssenaars, one of the architects of Universe Architecture, expressed the excitement of collaborating with such an innovative machine; He emphasized that they will achieve successful works with 3D Builder.

In addition to the design and form freedom provided by 3D Builder, Rutger Sypkens, BAM Plan Development Manager; said they were impressed that printing materials are recyclable; concrete granules and the resulting prints could be used as raw materials in the next period.
