We are now moving towards a period of exceptional technological possibilities. With the smartphones and other mobile devices, the internet and a lot of technology have entered our pocket, while the digital technologies such as 3D printing and augmented reality create a platform where we embody our dreams. Scandy, a New Orleans-based company, has developed an application that will bring one of these technologies, 3D scanning, to everyone. The device called Scandy Pro is able to connect to the smartphone and scan in 3D.

Like every new technology, 3D technology does not have a suitable market for everyone yet. Although personal 3D usage increases with print services and developed desktop printers, printer and scanner prices are still slightly above average. The Scandy company, the print-scan application developer, launched last year, produced Scandy Pro to make 3D scanning more practical and more convenient. Working with Android devices, this device also adds a 3D scan feature to our mobile devices.

Scandy, working with the German-American software and application developer pmdtechnologies for this device, launched Scandy Pro, a portable and affordable solution. PMdtechnologies, a camera technology, offering solutions to sectors with Time Of Flight (ToF) sensors, which receive images in every light current, used this application for Scandy’s scanning device.

Developed in this context, the PMD Pico Flexx ToF sensors are equipped with Pro, 2.5 and 3-meter character boxes. With a .25 meter character box, this device is capable of capturing details of 0.3 mm.; while 36 mm. size details can be captured with a 3 meter box. In addition to this, Pro also has the fixture, which allows users to change the scan images by clipping or resizing them. Pro, which can solve each frame in .32 seconds with tracking and scanning of objects; AR / VR can be used for many applications such as CAD and of course 3D printing.

3D scanning in our pockets with Scandy Pro

Personal 3D usage is encouraged with Scandy and other entrepreneur companies’ works. The 3D scanning of print services or 3D scanner devices is now in our pocket. Considering the prices in the 3D browser market, this is a considerable savings.

Scandy CEO, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Manager Cole Willey said that 3D scanning has become one of the mobile applications. Willey also said that he is also a maker and has targeted cost effective scanning technology for years.

You can write to android3Dscanning.com to participate in the Android beta test of this application; or to learn more about the device, which will be released at the end of 2016.
