Siemens AG announced that it has opened AMTC (Advance Manufacturing Transformation Center), the first competence center of its kind. The center opened in Singapore, where Siemens is one of the largest European business entities; it carries out consulting, training, R&D and small-scale production facility functions together. AMTC provides guidance, support and training to ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) companies; on their adoption, transition, and transformation journey towards advanced manufacturing.
As one of the world’s largest energy efficient resource-saving technology manufacturers, Siemens plays a leading role in infrastructure and industry solutions. Vice president of Siemens AMTC Asia-specific, Benjamin Moey explained that the AMTC was set up to bridge the gap between prototyping and industrial production of additive manufacturing to support and guide their companies on the journey towards digital transformation. Moey told that the vision for AMTC is to celebrate the adoption of advance technologies, simplification, digitalisation, and collaboration; in an ecosystem of key partners.

AMTC consists of three elements; a Digital Enterprise Experience Centre (DEX), Additive Manufacturing Experience Center (AMEC), and Rental Labs. DEX allows companies to create digital twin models of envisioned advanced manufacturing facilities; while also helping to simulate, optimize and evaluate manufacturing operations before constructing the actual production facility. At AMEC, companies have the opportunity to practically experience the end-to-end additive manufacturing line supported by AMTC’s technology partners ecosystem. Rental Labs supports companies before making the decision to invest in their own additive manufacturing lines. Companies interested in low-volume 3D printing for prototyping and testing; can benefit from economic high-end industrial design software and 3D printing machines at Rental Labs. In addition, companies have also access to affordable post-processing equipment here.
Benjamin Moey said that from research academic institutions providing R&D and training capabilities to advance manufacturing providers such as industrial 3D printers and post-processing equipment, to certification bodies; each partner brings a critical part to the ecosystem providing a niche expertise along this line. Moey noted that together they form this truly unique platform for companies and their staff to learn, understand, and adopt additive manufacturing technologies; with the support of their community of experts.
