Exhibiting its new scanner Drake at 3D Print Expo held in Moscow, Thor3D not only recevied a great interest but also rewarded at the fair.
Thor3D met the sector at 3D Print Expo bringing 3D world in Moscow between the dates of 17-18 November. Drawing attention with scanner solutions, the firm exhibited its newest product Drake scanner. Revealing its quality with sucessful scanning performance, Drake received ‘The Most Innovative Product of The Year’ award as well.
At the start of the fair, Vadim Fomichev, Thor’s Business Development manager, talked about several high-profile 3D scanning projects that were completed over the past year using the Thor3D scanner, including one where large statues were scanned a few weeks ago, right before their official unveiling near the Kremlin walls. The scanning and post-processing were done in less than one minute and the resulting, complete 3D file was promptly displayed on a large plasma screen on stage.
The Drake 3D scanner was nominated in a category with 8 other worthy, state-of-the-art products of 2016 but clinched the victory nonetheless. “We were honored to be nominated,” said Anna Zevelyov Director of Sales at Thor3D “but in all honesty, didn’t think we would win. “Additive manufacturing” events, generally, tend to focus more on 3D printers and materials, and not so much on 3D scanners. And that is as it should be and regardless, we love taking part in these shows. But our whole team was astonished and humbled that the independent judging panel, comprised of 3D-printing industry experts, chose a 3D scanner for this very prestigious award.
